MELANIE'S BIO

Welcome to my Bio! Here's a little background on me and my style philosophy.

As a stylist, my passion is helping people look their best in a way that is both comfortable and empowering for them -- and in a way that fits their own unique personality and lifestyle. I enjoy working with both cuts and color, and I love the creative process of combining the two so that they compliment each other.

I'm beginning my fourteenth year as a stylist; I went to beauty school right after graduating from high school and feel very lucky to have known what career I wanted to pursue from such an early age. It's the best decision I have ever made and it's wonderful to have a job that I look forward to going to every day.

What's the most important thing you can do before moving forward with a new style? I believe that taking the time to have an in-depth consultation with your stylist is an essential and enjoyable first step to deciding on a cut and/or color. It's important to me to take the time to get to know you and explain how to achieve similar results at home with the time and effort you wish to put into everyday styling. I also like to have a lot of information about what you do on the average day and what has and has not worked for you in the past. It's like solving a puzzle – looking back at previous haircuts as well as the current styles you're drawn to can help us to figure out what to work for in the future.

I feel that one of my greatest strengths as a stylist is that I am attentive. Clients appreciate that I take the time to listen to what they want instead of just repeating what their last stylist did. For example, if a new client comes to me too blonde from over-highlighting, I would rather tone down the color so that it lasts longer than have them back in the salon more often. At the same time, if you ask me for my honest opinion, you'll get it. I believe that your satisfaction rests on open communication and dialogue and I am committed to having you leave my chair loving your hair!

Outside of salon life, I take a lot of pleasure in creating all kinds of arts and crafts, and I especially enjoy sewing. I also love to read, decorate, and travel, and I'm fascinated with cartoons, Hello Kitty, pop culture and style.
